HAVEN's COVID-19 Protocols + Procedures
Updated 1/17/21: Our low-traffic office is one-on-one with your practitioner and well ventilated. We have long list of procedures for keeping our office safe which we encourage you to review. We require masks for the duration of your visit and ask for negative test results within 7 days of your visit from most clients. To find out if you may be exempt from our testing policy or if you need a second test for a follow up visit, please use our Covid Testing Questionnaire and we will get back to you ASAP, not to exceed 24 hours.
Why Testing?
Updated 1/3/21: Along with masks and distancing, testing regularly for COVID-19 is one of the only ways we have to protect one another and slow the spread of this virus. Being tested is not a guarantee, but when timed properly, testing can help us reduce our risk of exposure. Being tested within the first few days of symptoms or 5-6 days after a potential exposure if asymptomatic is currently thought to provide the most accurate results. Testing too early or too late could miss the infection (a so-called “false negative” result), so this should be taken into account when planning to test and scheduling an appointment.
Our #1 Testing Site Recommendation
Updated 1/3/21: Based on many months of weekly testing ourselves, this is our best recommendation to date:
NYC Health & Hospitals – Red Hook site at 155 Bay St. or Bay Ridge site at 8515 5th Ave. Brooklyn, NY; 1-212-COVID19
Why is this our #1 recommendation?
- FREE for all – no insurance or payment needed, no symptoms or reason for visit required
- PCR (still the most accurate) test results within 24-36h
- You can check on wait times before you go
- For Bay Ridge site, they are also offering rapid testing, for which there is often a long line. Do not be dissuaded, make sure to find the conspicuous door #8515 that has a small sign “PCR only” which typically has little to no wait.
Much like anything else, these are more crowded on weekends and evenings, and less busy on weekday mornings and afternoons. But we at HAVEN as well as our clients have had consistently reliable experiences at these 2 locations, and therefore it remains our number one suggestion.
